Psoriasis is not a contagious disease. It is an autoimmune condition with a genetic basis and is often triggered by environmental factors. Psoriasis cannot be transmitted through contact.

The diagnosis of psoriasis is made by a dermatologist. Sometimes a small skin biopsy can be helpful.

Psoriasis is a chronic, relapsing condition for which no definitive cure currently exists. Various medications can be used to relieve symptoms during acute phases, both as topical treatments and systemic therapies.
